The rash of mass and spree shootings that erupted in the wake of the July 20 Aurora massacre led some pundits to label this past summer as the 'Summer of the Gun.' Will the events that unfolded in Egypt and Libya on September 11, 2012 spur a similar type of copycat effect? Are we now standing at the threshold of the Fall of 11? Let us briefly consider the implications of this past Tuesday's events.
For those of you unaware, protests broke out at US embassies located in Cairo, Egypt and Benghazi, Libya on the eleventh anniversery of the 9/11 'terror attacks.' The UK Guardian reports:
"Egyptian protesters, largely ultraconservative Islamists, climbed the walls of the US embassy in Cairo on Tuesday, made their way into the courtyard and brought down the flag, replacing it with a black flag with an Islamic inscription to protest a film attacking Islam's prophet, Muhammad.
"Hours later, armed men in eastern Libya also stormed the US consulate there and set it on fire as anger spread.
"Hundreds of protesters marched to the embassy in central Cairo, gathering outside its walls and chanting against the movie, which was reportedly produced in the United States.
"'Say it, don't fear: their ambassador must leave,' the crowd chanted.
"Dozens of protesters then scaled the embassy walls, took down the flag from a pole in the courtyard and brought it back to the crowd outside. The crowd tried to burn it, but failing that, tore it apart. The protesters on the wall then raised on the flagpole a black flag with the Muslim declaration of faith on it: 'There is no god but God and Muhammad is his prophet.' The flag, similar to the banner used by al-Qaida, is commonly used by ultraconservatives around the region."

"The US ambassador to Libya and three other Americans were killed when local militia assaulted Washington's consulate in Benghazi. President Barack Obama has condemned the attack.
"Reports from various sources paint an unclear picture of the circumstances surrounding Ambassador John Christopher Steven's death.
"A group of extremist militia members stormed Benghazi's US consulate on Tuesday night. Stevens may not have been killed in the Tuesday night assault, however, but rather when a second mob attacked his motorcade as it was leaving Benghazi Wednesday morning, the Guardian said.
"Libyan officials alleged that Islamist militants fired rockets at Steven's car, killing him and three other embassy staffers. Witnesses cited by local media claimed that members of the hardline Islamist group Ansar Al-Sharia were among the ranks of the attackers.
"President Obama and NATO Secretary-General Anders Fogh Rasmussen have roundly condemned the attack, and mourned Steven's death."
Ambassador Christopher Stevens |
"U.S. officials are investigating whether the murder Tuesday of the U.S. ambassador to Libya Christopher Stevens and three other American officials was a "coordinated" strike timed for the 11th anniversary of the Sept. 11 attacks -- and not the result of a protest against an anti-Islam film.
"A senior administration official told Fox News they are exhaustively investigating every angle of the attack in Benghazi, and an earlier assault on the U.S. Embassy in Cairo, Egypt, and there are early signs the Benghazi assault may have been planned. The official cautioned, though, that the administration has not jumped to any conclusions about what happened, saying it would be 'premature' to do so.Undoubtedly this narrative will go over well with Romney supporters that see anything short of a full scale war with Iran as being soft on terrorism. I mean, clearly 'Islamo-fascism' is on the march after this, right? Or is there something a bit deeper unfolding in these events?
"But current and former U.S. lawmakers, and others, claimed Wednesday that the attack looked like a coordinated strike.
"'Absolutely, I have no doubt about it. It was a coordinated, military-style, commando-type raid,' House Intelligence Committee Chairman Mike Rogers told Fox News. Based on his own briefings, Rogers said 'military movements' were involved.
"'This was a well- planned, well-targeted event. No doubt about it,' Rogers said. He said the Al Qaeda-linked Imprisoned Omar Abdul Rahman Brigades is one group being looked at by officials."
The cause of the 9/11/12 protests has generally been sited as the anti-Muslim film The Innocence of Muslims, a work that premiered on June 23 at the Vine Theater along the legendary Hollywood Boulevard. There's a lot of twilight language is that last sentence. I've already covered a bit of the symbolism of holly and Hollywood before here so I shall not delve into it presently.

"Cultivation of the vine was traditionally held to have been comparatively late in Ancient Greece by comparison with corn cultivation. Thus it was not the domain of some ancient goddess such as Demeter, but belonged to Dionysus, whose worship acquired growing importance, associated as it was with the knowledge of the mysteries of life and death, which are also those of rebirth and knowledge, that the vine also became a funerary symbol..."The association of the vine with life and death is most appropriate for the situation currently unfolding in North Africa. It is rather mysterious that so much twilight language surrounded the debut of this film. Of course, the man reportedly behind Muslims is something of a mystery as well. Originally it was reported that film was produced and directed by a human known as Sam Bacile, an Israeli-American who claimed to have financed the film (which has an alleged budget of five million) via the donations of Jewish backers. It is now being reported, however, that the actual visionary behind this work is a Coptic Christian known as Nakoula Basseley Nakoula. The plot thickens, as they say.

The number eleven has of course been closely associated with the events in North Africa --the embassy attacks occurred on September 11, 2012, on the eleven year anniversary of the 9/11 terror attacks, as noted above. The number eleven has acquired a strange association with terrorism and other horrific events over the years.
"Copycats pick out other personally significant dates and numbers also. The city of Mankota, Minnesota, had a youth pact that called itself 'The 11th of the Month Club' when teens died by suicides on January 11, February 11, and other dates in 1986. The Bergenfield mass suicide also occurred on March 11, 1986. On September 11, 1992, Randy Earl Matthews, 17, pulled out a gun at Palo Duro High School in Amarillo, Texas, and shot six students. Another student was trampled by the fleeing mob. No one died.
"Needless to say, the 11 in 9/11, as in September 11, 2001, has been pondered by many scholars, intelligence services, politicians, and others trying to find some meaning in the choosing of this date. Is there some special significance to the date? Perhaps there is none, but some items seem to go beyond mere coincidence. On September 11, 1922, the British mandate of Palestine began, and on September 11, 1939, Iraq and Saudi Arabia declared war on Nazi Germany. The origins of Black September began with Arafat's clashes with Jordan over hijacked planes. On September 6-12, 1970, four TWA, Swissair, and BOAC planes were hijacked and destroyed (an attempted El Al hijacking failed), and this was directly tied to Palestine civil uprisings and the resulting suppression that was to be called Jordan's 'Black September.' We must note that on September 11, 1972, the Munich Summer Olympics ended. Of course, it was at this Olympics that the Black September terrorists killed eleven Israeli athletes, on the fifth.
"September 11 was the start date of that assault by a plane on the White House, in 1994. Pakistani Ramzi Ahmed Yousef, the alleged al-Qaida mastermind behind the first WTC bombing, who was quoted as saying after the failed 1993 attempt that they would do it right the second time, was also the brains behind the elaborate Bojinka, translated as the 'explosion.' This was a plot to place bombs on eleven American jetliners and have them all explode on the same day over the Pacific Ocean. Yousef carried out a test run for Bojinka by planting a bomb that detonated on Philippines Airlines Flight 434 on December 11, 1994. One tourist was killed, ten injured. Yousef called the Associate Press after this bombing to give credit to Abu Sayyaf. His friend Khalid Sheik Mohammed would launch the September 11 terrorist attacks, which were built from parts of Bojinka. The twilight attention to this special number continued with the design of the Bali nightclub explosion of October 12, 2002, in which 202 died. The Bali operation, originally scheduled for the first anniversary of 9/11, commenced instead while it was still October 11, 2002, in New York City, using 110 pounds of explosives at eleven o'clock local Bali time. The Madrid commuter train attacks (with a death toll of nearly 200) involved eleven knapsacks full of dynamite and occurred on March 11, 2004, exactly 911 days after the 9/11 assault on the Pentagon and the destruction of New York's Twin Towers ('11') through the use of Flight 11 and other aircraft."

The number 11 also has strong occult and symbolic associations.
"Ten symbolizes a complete cycle and by adding to its fullness, eleven is the sign of excess, extravagance and exaggeration, in whatever category you like, promiscuity, violence, biased judgement. The number heralds potential conflict. Its ambivalence resides in the fact that the excess which it signifies may either mark the beginning of a renewal or the collapse and breakdown of the number ten, a fault in the universe. It is this later sense that made St. Augustine say that 'the number eleven is the blazon of sin.' Its disturbing activities may be compared with the unbalancing and overenlargement of one of the pillars of this universe (the number ten), a definition of disorder, disease and sin.
"Generally speaking, the number is that of 'individual initiative, but of an initiative exercised without relation to cosmic harmony, and therefore more often than not of a malign character.' Eleven is, therefore, the symbol of internal conflict, 'of discord, rebellion, aberration, law-breaking... human sin... and of the revolt of the angels..."
"The number eleven, which would seem to have been one of the keys of theDivine Comedy, also derives its symbolism from being the sum of the numbers five and six, these being the microcosm and the macrocosm, or Heaven and Earth. In China, eleven was the number which 'in its totality (ch'eng) comprised the way of Heaven and Earth. It was the number of the Tao."Rebellion is certainly in keeping with the association famed occultist Aleister Crowley gave to the number eleven. In the Gematria he referred to eleven as "the great magical number... the magic force itself" (pg. 43). One of his disciples, Kenneth Grant, would further elaborate on the occult significance of the number eleven:
(Dictionary of Symbolism, Jean Chevalier & Alain Gheerbrant, pg. 349)
"The hieroglyph of the A:A:... is typified by an eleven-rayed star symbolizing the union of the human and the divine elements of consciousness. Its full form is the fusion of the Pentagram (5) with the Hexagram (6), the former being the glyph of the feminine power (Nature), the latter of the masculine powers (Creative Will). Crowley used the eleven-rayed star in the Cairo Working in conjunction with the letter Cheth...
"The secret Star of Magick is also elevenfold; it is the Unicursal Hexagram of the Beast plus the five-petalled Rose typical of Babalon, for the flower (flow-er) is the symbol of her magical function."Viewing the events currently unfolding in North Africa through the occult association of the number eleven --the number of magic and rebellion --is most unnerving. Already we are witnessing the neo-con faction of the Cryptocracy out in force demanding immediate action. Meanwhile the Obama regime continues to back the rebellion in Syria even though it will surely bring about a regime as hostile to the US as the ones brought to power in Egypt and Libya in the wake of the Arab Spring revolts. All the while the specter of Crowley lingers in the background. The above mentioned Cairo Working is allegedly where Crowley received his infamous The Book of the Law, a tome of such importance that it was supposed to usher in a new age --What Crowley referred to as the Aeon of Horus.

Before wrapping things up, I'd like to point out two other curious aspects of the 9/11/12 events. One is the appearance of Guy Fawkes masks, popularized by the film V For Vendetta, at the Cairo protests. The Guy Fawkes masks and anything associated with V have already became a major part of the Soldier of the Apocalypse meme, as this incident from December 2010 makes clear. Loren Coleman has already done an excellent piece of the Fawkes masks appearing at the 9/11/12 events, which can be read here.

And that, as they say in the holly-wood, is a wrap.
